Hey Emanuele, please, introduce yourself, tell us a bit more about your career path so far.
I am 36 years old and I am the match analyst for SSC Bari, a club that plays in the Italian Serie B.
I have a degree in sports management, and in 2018 I took a course to become a match analyst. In 2019, I started my career in the world of soccer at Cavese 1919 club that played in Serie C at the time, and I worked for 2 seasons in this club, collaborating with many people who helped me in my professional growth.
After 2 years at Cavese, I moved to Bari, also in Serie C, but we had the merit of winning the championship and this season as mentioned above we are playing the Serie B championship.
Describe the qualities you believe a successful video analyst must have.
A good video analyst must first and foremost be a hard worker, in that he works 7 days a week and never takes off, even when the team has days off. Consequently, to do this job you have to put in commitment, dedication, desire to learn, as every day you can improve and grow professionally. another fundamental thing to do this job in the best way is to get in tune with the coach and understand what he wants to work in the best way.
During your time in Bari, the team managed to get from Serie C to Serie B. What is the importance of video analysis and Once Video Analyser in your success?
The use of Once Video Analyser was very important during the past season and this one, as it allowed me to analyze our games in a simple and effective way and those of the opponents and then helped both me and all the technical staff to show videos to the team. It is a key working tool for me, as I use it every day, even while traveling and away, and the ease of use saves me a lot of time, and this is crucial for both me and the coach.
How do the players react to video analysis?
The players have also realized the importance of video analysis and are always paying attention to both their opponents and their own matches, to review and improve. This proactive approach to video analysis has become an integral part of their training routine, enabling them to adapt and elevate their performance on the field.
How do you prepare for matches?
We prepare the matches with a video on the opponents’ phase of possession and non-possession, and a video on inactive balls. The day after the game, on the other hand, we prepare a video about our own game. As said before, tuning in with the coach and all the staff is fundamental. We on the staff prepare all the material which we then submit for the coach’s viewing and together with him we decide what to show the team.
